Open House Highlights

South King Fire would like to extend a heartfelt thanks to our community members and community partners for helping us celebrate 75 years of dedicated service to our communities. Founded in 1949 as Fire District 39 and Legacy Federal Way Fire Department, things have changed over the years. We now are known as South King Fire and are considered an all-hazards fire department. We range from emergency medical services to hazardous materials, maritime emergencies, technical rescue, and firefighting. We are proud of all 200 employees who make South King Fire a great place to work.

It was an honor to have local community leaders, our commissioners, department staff, and local agencies come to support our open houses to recognize the dedicated men and women of South King Fire.

We had so much fun seeing old friends and meeting new ones. There was fun to be had every step of the way, from the obstacle course to face painting and live cooking fire demonstrations. Thank you to our community members who came out to celebrate with us, and we hope to see you again in the community. Here is to another 75 years of serving the community!
