[ARCHIVED] Monday Morning House fire

low res

Monday morning about 9:30 AM residents in the 28500 block of 20th Ave S called 911 after hearing a loud bang and seeing black smoke coming from a window of a nearby house and garage. Neighbors quickly knocked on the doors of the home and alerted the three people inside to get out. The fire quickly spread through the garage and into the home. The fire was fed by a large amount storage throughout the structure including gunpowder and ammunition. Vehicles in the driveway were also involved and the neighboring house sustained damage as well.
The residence did not have working smoke alarms installed and the family were unaware of the fire. Thanks to their neighbors everyone escaped without injury. The home and RV are a total loss.
The photo shows firefighters protecting the neighbors home from catching fire while they prepare to extinguish the burning house. The cause of the blaze is still under investigation.

If you or someone you know has questions about smoke alarms or needs help purchasing or installing them please call South King Fire at 253 946 7347. We can help.
