Fireworks are prohibited in both the City of Des Moines (Des Moines Municipal Code 9.42) and the City of Federal Way (Federal Way Municipal Code chapter 8 article IV). Permitted fireworks displays by a licensed pyrotechnician are allowed.
Each year, police officers and firefighters respond to numerous instances of illegal use of fireworks. Many of these reports involve property damage, and some have caused serious injuries to children and adults.
In the interest of public safety, we would like to ask for your support and cooperation in preventing as many of these fireworks-related fires and injuries as possible.
If you buy fireworks and bring them to Des Moines or Federal Way you risk being fined and having them confiscated because they are not legal.
Attend a public Display
