Juvenile Fire Setter

It is important to take the early signs of fire setting seriously. The Fire Stoppers program is an educational intervention program designed to educate parents and children about fire safety and the consequences of fire. Fire Department personnel are trained to assess fire setting behaviors, provide fire safety education and to recommend additional assistance if needed. Educational services are free and financial assistance with counseling may be available. For more information, please call 253-946-7337.

Free Smoke Alarms for Seniors and Low-income Families

South King Fire & Rescue has funding from local and state organizations for the distribution of free smoke detectors with batteries to senior citizens or families with low or fixed incomes who live within the fire jurisdiction. The fire department will install detectors and batteries for those who are unable to do so themselves. Call 253-946-7337 for more information.

Fall Prevention

Educators will visit your home to do a safety survey. We will talk with you about the reasons why falls happen, and give you ideas on how to reduce injuries at home. We can also install risk reduction devices. To qualify for the program, you must be 60 years or older, live independently, and have either fallen in the past or be at risk of falling and live within the boundaries of the fire district. For more information or to schedule a home visit, please call 253-946-7337.

Special Requests

SKF&R will accommodate special requests whenever possible if we are able. Scheduling can be some what of a problem at times so we need as much notice prior to the event as possible. Please call 253-946-7337.
